Background

Mr Chungu Kaunda is currently Regional Head of Investment Banking for Core Markets, and Mozambique for the Standard Bank Group. He is responsible for overseeing all long term debt and investment banking related transactions in Core Markets which consists of nine (9) countries.

Chungu, prior to joining the Standard Bank Group, joined Barclays Bank Zambia PLC in 2010 to set up and head the bank’s first ever Structured Finance and Investment Banking Unit. Whilst with Barclays he was responsible for all Zambia's debt related transactions and investment banking propositions as well as being a senior debt resource for the Group’s Southern Africa operations. Transactions originated, closed and under execution since Chungu joined the bank stood in excess of US 3 billion. In 2014 his role was expanded to cover a number of other countries mainly in the SADC region as a Group resource for Barclays’ Debt Business on the continent.

Chungu in aggregate has worked on over $5billion worth of transactions across the continent of Africa and has 16 years of experience in the corporate finance and financial services industry.
